- Drink plenty of water the day of your massage. Ideally you are drinking sufficient water each day. Plan to avoid caffeinated drinks as much as possible the day of your massage so your nervous system will not be pumped up. I want you to be relaxed.
- Do not eat a huge meal before your massage because you may become nauseous or have indigestion. Having a large meal also slows down the healing process as your body devotes its energy to the digestion process. So try to eat at least an hour and one-half before your massage. If that's not possible, have a light meal.
- Use the bathroom before the massage starts. Don't try to hold it because that will be the only thing you will be able to focus on during the massage. If you need to go during the massage, just let me know.
- Discuss any leg/foot concerns you have before your massage starts if you can. Some women apologize for unshaven legs. That is not an issue for me. On the other hand, if you think your feet are dirty, here are some suggestions. If you are able to wipe off your feet in the bathroom, that is perfectly acceptable. If you don't think about it until you are on the table, let me know. I keep baby wipes handy just for that purpose.
- Remove your jewelry if possible. Doing this makes it possible for your fingers, ears, and neck to be thoroughly massaged without discomfort.
- Don't help me unless I request your help. Lifting your head, arms, legs, etc. is my job. Your job is to relax.
- Please turn your cell phone/pager off. This is your time to relax and decompress without interruptions. The world can wait for a little while. I want you to fully live in each moment of your massage.
