Sure, I know you do not have an hour to spare, but a great facial massage can be done in 20 minutes. That is certainly enough time to get oxygen and blood moving. This increased circulation will help release tension and help tone your skin. Facial massage helps your eye and facial muscles to relax. Those with sinus or facial pain may also get some relief. Often a facial massage will help ease a tension headache.

Now if you have psoriasis, eczema or acne, be forewarned that facial massage can make these conditions worse. Obviously, if you have open sores, cuts, or boils on your face, it would be wise to take a pass. If you have had a recent dermatologic procedure or surgery, check with your doctor to make sure facial massage is appropriate. Your doctor may want to make some recommendations as to what type of moisturizer to use if the okay is given.

After applying a tiny bit of moisturizer, your therapist begins with some gliding strokes. These gentle strokes are done in an upward motion to lift the muscles instead of pulling them down. Gravity does not need any extra help here. The moisturizer helps to keep your skin from being unnecessarily pulled and stretched. Deep kneading or percussion techniques work the muscles under the surface tissues. Your therapist may apply pressure to certain points on the face to unblock energy as well. For example, pressure in the area between the lower lip and the chin is said to release tension in the face and mouth. Stones, cold and hot, can also be used to stimulate and reduce tension in the face.

Those 20 minutes will speed by, but your sensitive skin will be treated with caution. You will feel wonderful!

Edit Re: About Face!

I’ll be very happy to try this kind of facial massage for me to have a relaxing feeling for my stressed out face. This treatment is better for us who looks stressed and old looking. Thanks for sharing your article. Have a nice day!
