Recently, it seems that most of my clients have complained about neck pain of all kinds - dull, stabbing, crunchy, etc. Obviously neck pain is unique to each individual and can appear with or without other symptoms. Ordinary activities, such as sustained computer work or driving, as well as the stress of daily living, can all cause neck pain. Sometimes the pain comes on with no warning. For example, you may go to bed feeling fine and symptom-free and then wake up tomorrow and your neck hurts. At other times you believe you know exactly what you have done to bring on this painful condition.
If you have neck pain, you definitely should be evaluated by your health care provider. What you believe to be a minor irritation can quickly become a serious condition that affects your quality of life if you do not take care of it. Ask your doctor if it is appropriate for you to get a massage for your discomfort. Some doctors will give you a prescription for massage to give to your massage therapist. If your doctor gives the okay, make your appointment to get some relief from that nagging neck pain as soon as possible.
